Please Note: Preparation for the Spring State Tests

Royal Knights,

Please be advised that in preparation for the spring state tests, we will maximize our instructional time. Except for competitive sports, all clubs are held on Fridays only. The bulk of the Friday schedule is instruction and clubs are designed to increase students' critical reasoning in several areas, so it is critical that students attend school every day school is open. Students who have excessive absences are in danger of retention, and you will receive a letter soon reminding you of the consequences of excessive absences. We adhere strictly to state law with regard to absences. Of course, as you know, 5 early dismissals and/or late arrivals constitute 1 absence and are treated no differently than an absence. Students who are routinely arriving late or leaving early are missing key instructional time. We need your help to make sure your child is present to maximize learning for success.

Many parents are routinely coming between 3:55 and 4:05 M-Th or between 10:55 and 11:30 on Friday to dismiss their children early. This presents problems for dismissal and is pushing the envelope at the last possible moment; therefore, early dismissal will now end at 3:00 Monday-Thursday and at 11:00 on Friday.
