Teacher of the year awards ceremony.

Last night Les and I had the privilege of accompanying Mr. Dixon to the SC Teacher of the Year Awards Ceremony in Columbia. It was a stellar event in which all 82 Teachers of the Year were honored. Special guests included Governor Haley, Superintendent Zais, Major General Charles Bolden (NASA Administrator), and other dignitaries. Judi Gatson (WIS News Anchor) was the MC. The winner of "This School's Got Talent" Sammy Cornelius gave an exciting performance on the drums. The SC Teacher of the Year was chosen: Jennifer Ainsworth, a truly inspiring special education teacher from the Horry County School District, who received the keys to a new BMW SUV (see attached pictures), a check for $25,000, and a few other nifty prizes. The 4 runners-up received $10,000 each and other prizes.

What is so great about this award is that any teacher can achieve the level of excellence that garners such a prestigious position. I hope this inspires you!
