Jabari Williams(8th Grade) will be playing in National Basketball Tournament in July down in the ESPN Arena, Orlando, FL.

Good morning Dr Wicks,

As a parent I wanted to share some exciting news with you. Jabari Williams(8th Grade) will be playing in National Basketball Tournament in July down in the ESPN Arena, Orlando, FL. Jabari’s team won the AAU South East Georgia Elite Super Regional Tournament (8thGrade), this past weekend.

The reason I wanted to share this information with you is because it all started with playing for your basketball team this past season that he was recognized by some coaches from Bluffton who asked that he come and try out for the team. The Carolina Ballers is an AAU traveling team that is based out of Bluffton, that is part of the Boys and Girls Club. There were a total of 72 young men who tried out for this team, some of which were a part of the Royal Knights. Only 12 were selected.

Royal Live Oaks should be proud that when coaches from other areas approach him, he doesn’t hesitate to let them know that he is a Royal Knight. I look forward in growing with this school in all other athletic endeavors that you may have in store for the future.

I want to say a special thanks to Coach James McNeal who attends practices, as well as games when he is able. I know that it isn’t required of him, but it makes Jabari feel good to have his support. Coach Javar Ready, the coach that believed in his team despite all obstacles that got in the way, he too played a great part in Jabari’s success as a basketball player. They have pushed him so that he can maximize his potential as a student athlete. It is rare, but yet a great accomplishment that we see our youth given the opportunity to play at this magnitude. This is yet another reason why I love this school. Teachers/Staff members never mind doing extra. As a single mother, that means the world to me. I would also like to thank Ms Janette who screamed at him at the games to keep him focused. A special thanks to Mr. Westbrook and Ms. Connelly who always reached out to me when they saw that he was slipping.

In all Dr Wicks, you have a great staff that cares for these kids.
