On September 11, 2014, Royal Live Oaks Academy of the Arts & Sciences Charter School closed on a $500,000 bridge loan from the South Carolina Community Loan Fund to begin the process of breaking ground for the new 62,000+ square-foot campus at the corner of John Smith Road and McTeer Road, Hardeeville. This loan will be repaid with construction financing secured through a USDA mortgage that is currently in the process of completion. Dr. Karen Wicks, Executive Director of the Academy and Co-Founder, shown here with Mr. Les Wicks, Co-Founder, and Dr. Wayne Brazell, Superintendent of the SC Public Charter School District, explained that this loan will enable the school to finalize architectural and engineering work and the various stringent document details required by the USDA. The groundbreaking celebration is expected in the first quarter of 2015.
